The Basics of Sticker Printing

The process of sticker printing involves adjusting the color palette and ensuring that the print quality is good. The color balance is one of the most important elements to consider, and mistakes in this area can result in costly mistakes. While it is possible to create your own design using an image editing program, it is important to be aware of some basics to ensure that your stickers turn out great.

Screen printing is a common method of sticker printing, and it involves using a synthetic screen to press the ink onto the sticker paper. It is most appropriate for stickers that require limited quantities. The ink is squeezed through a stencil and on to the paper. You will need to repeat the process for each color. To start with, you will need to cut and mix the stencil for one color. The stencil for the next color will be cut and pressed onto the sticker paper, and so on. This process must be repeated until all of the colors are in place.

The color balance of the design is another important aspect to consider. For example, lighter colors may not transfer well into black and white images. This is because the lightest ten percent of the color spectrum are not visible, so even faint yellow shading can look white. Similarly, designs with a large percentage of black will have a different impact on the eye.
